Airbnb releases your payout about 24 hours after the guest checks in. The money then reaches your account depending on the method you chose. With a bank transfer, allow 3 to 5 extra business days. Here is how Airbnb payments work on the host side, method by method.

A word of vocabulary before we start

At Airbnb, the payment is what the guest does. What you receive is called a payout. This distinction avoids a lot of confusion. In this article, we are talking about your host payout.

When does Airbnb release your payout?

Airbnb triggers the payout about 24 hours after the guest checks in. This delay leaves time to report any issue with the arrival.

24 hours

That is the delay after the guest’s check-in before Airbnb releases your payout. The process is automatic, with no action on your part.

Several factors then affect the date you receive the money. The payout method, the length of stay and your host status all play a role. A new host may face a specific delay on their first booking.

Watch out for anti-fraud checks. Airbnb may review a transaction before sending it. This check can delay a payout by up to 45 days, in rare cases.

How long before you receive the money?

After the release, each method has its own processing time. The table below sums up the official durations.

Payout methodProcessing time
Payout to a bank card30 minutes or less
Payoneer Mastercard24 hours
PayPal1 business day
Western Union1 business day
International bank transfer3 to 7 business days
SEPA transfer (bank account)3 to 5 business days

The SEPA transfer is the most common method in France. Adding the release and the processing, allow about 3 to 6 days after the arrival. One thing to keep in mind: banks do not process on weekends or public holidays. The payout then goes out on the next business day. Bank cards and Payoneer are the exception.

When will I get paid?

Enter the guest’s check-in date and your payout method. The tool applies the 24-hour rule, then the processing time for your method, to estimate the date you receive the money.

How to choose and set up your payout method

The payout method is set in a few steps in your account. Here is the exact path.

  1. Open Menu, then Account settings, then Payments.
  2. In the Payouts tab, click Add a payout method.
  3. Choose your billing country.
  4. Select the method, fill in your details, then confirm.

The first method added becomes the default one. After adding it, it stays pending while verification takes place. So set it up as early as possible. A minimum payout amount option lets you group several payments together.

Advice from Conciergerie Vesna

The account holder’s name must match your Airbnb account exactly. A name mismatch often blocks the payout. Check this point before your first booking. It is the most frequent mistake we fix for new owners.

Late payment: what to do?

A late payout almost always has a simple explanation. Before you worry, check these common causes.

  • Weekend or public holiday: bank processing is pushed to the next business day.
  • Method-specific delay: a SEPA transfer takes up to 5 business days.
  • Anti-fraud check: a review can temporarily suspend the payout.
  • Payout method pending: an unverified account delays the first payment.

Always start with your earnings dashboard. It shows the status of each payout and its expected send date. For a bank processing question, contact your bank directly.

Partial payments and guest refunds

A guest refund can reduce a future payout. The mechanism is simple to understand. If a guest cancels and is entitled to a refund, Airbnb deducts the amount from your next payouts.

This deduction continues until the amount is fully recovered. This is what we call a partial payment. You can track the updated amount in your earnings dashboard. All adjustments are traced there, which keeps your records clear.

Guest payment or host payout: do not mix them up

The guest can pay in one or several installments. They can also split a booking between several people. These options concern the guest’s payment, upstream.

They have no impact on your host payout. You are paid under the 24-hour rule after check-in, whatever way the guest paid.

Advice from Conciergerie Vesna

Anticipate your payouts in your cash flow, especially at the start of the season. An end-of-week arrival often pushes the transfer to Monday. In our management service, we track every payout and quickly spot a blockage. A missing payment is handled before you even notice.

Hand over the tracking of your payouts

Tracking every payout, spotting a delay and reconciling amounts takes rigor. Do you want to delegate the management of your property on the CΓ΄te d’Azur? Contact the Airbnb Concierge service in Nice. We handle this tracking every day.
